As I was traveling on a
cruise, I began to notice the
behavior of most of the
passengers. Many sitting around
extremely overweight, smoking
cigarettes, eating all kinds of
junk food while I was jogging on
the deck. For some strange reason
I found myself being a little
bothered by the fact that I was
having a nodule on my thyroid.
In other words, me "Mr. big
health-nut" doing the so called
"right thing" while watching all
these people not taking care of
themselves yet they seems to be
doing okay, that thought started
to bother me. It was as if I went
into a victim's mode thinking;
Why me? Of course, my ego is
assuming that they are doing
fine. But the truth is, I don't
know what kind of challenges they
may be dealing with.
Then, as I shifted my
attention to finding the blessing
in that thought, something
wonderful emerged. And that was
the understanding that even when
I might have had a nodule on the
thyroid, I had enough
understanding of how the mind
works, to the point where I knew
that I didn't have to let myself
be bothered by whatever it is I
was facing at the time.
Basically, I knew that within I
had the power to change whatever
needed to be changed, be it
internally or externally.
And the truth is, by using my
inner power to change my focus, I
can carry that power to anything
I would want to create for
myself. That in itself is a sweet
reminder of the fact that nothing
has power over me. Right after I
dealt with that thought, I said
to myself, "if this nodule is
what I need to remind myself of
the power that resides within me,
then I say to the nodule,
welcome, and thank you for your
gift."
After dealing with that
thought, I was able to look at
all the people I have been
judgmental about and began
sending them love because
regardless of their chosen
behavior, many are simply victims
of their own mind. Me on the
other hand was striving to have
dominion over it. And everything
that I have being able to
accomplish and continue to do so
has come as a result awareness.
Of being in touch with my
feelings, emotions and the
deepening of my spiritual
practices.
So remember, your present
condition(s) or circumstance(s)
have no control over you. If
anything, they are revealing a
wonderful gift that once it's
discovered, all your troubles
will soon fade away, for you have
found the peace that surpass
understanding.
