Karma: Spirit Wanted It That Way, "I Don't Think So"

Recently I was staying with a friend and I noticed that whatever happens her reply was, "Spirit must have wanted it that way." I remember there was a particular service offered at a nearby church and she invited me to. I was not sure if I wanted to go so I said that if I do, I will show up later. Well, I didn't. Next day she mentioned how good the service was and I said, "maybe I should have gone," and she said, "I guess you were not supposed to be there," as if Spirit decided for me.

That statement got me thinking. Could it be that instead of Spirit not wanting me to be there, I just made a decisions not to attend? Because if Spirit decided for you what to do and what not to do, then, where is your free choice? I notice that a lot of people rationalize everything with statements like, "spirit must have wanted that way," or "it was not supposed to happen," when in reality they are just afraid to sometimes take full responsibility for their actions. Or this could be another excuse for procrastinate in doing something they ought to be doing. And it is not to say that they are blaming, it is just a comforting excuse that keeps them from following through.

Sometimes is much easier to sit down and do nothing than to go out and do whatever it is that needs to be done. Better yet, to go out and move in the direction of your dreams. I think that Spirit accommodate to whatever decision you choose to make. I will not deny that Spirit will always attempt to communicate with you so that your decisions are made based on the highest and best choice you could possibly make that will not only benefit you but everyone else,but ultimately, you have the choice to listen or not.

So how all this apply to surrender if we are the ones making the ultimate choices? Very simply, surrender have nothing to do with doing but with listening. When our choices are based on our true intuition, our internal guidance, we experience love, wealth, and fulfillment, whatever those words mean to you, because we are open to experience the grandest vision of ourselves. The Spirit is always communicating with us. It is doing it all the time through our feelings, visions, articles we read, songs we hear, people we interact with and so forth. The key is, how open and receptive are we to the message. Specially if the message does not make any sense according to our idea of how things should be.

Peoples fears are sometimes so powerful that they make say things such as, "Spirit wanted it that way," when in reality what they are saying is, "I was afraid to make that choice." Noticed that I said "that choice" as opposed to "a choice" because whether the decision was made out of fear or inspiration, it is still our final choice. And it was not made by Spirit, it was made by our self, or I should say, influenced by our beliefs. Spirit guides, we choose to listen or not. But ultimately, we act.

All I can say to you is that when an inspiring thought moves through your awareness, simply remember that the Spirit within you only wants the best for you. And when you move in the direction of your dreams, which ultimately is your choice, even when the circumstances around you appear to be in opposition to your inner most desire, all the resources necessary for the manifestation of that dream will come your way. Because that which you desire have already been granted to you. The day we truly listen, we will realize that all we needed to do in our lives, is not to chase our dreams but to recognize them as already being granted.

Please understand that what I refer to our dreams are not necessarily material possessions, or success according to our society standards. I mean the opportunity for us to express ourselves fully. The ability to share our talents and abilities with the world. Our dreams are not ideas or visions that come through us in order to get anything. They are merely reflections of the infinite abundance that resides deep within us which we want to share with the rest of the world. Here is a prayer I carry with me to remind myself that I am already perfect, whole and complete, and that my life is not about what can I get but how can I be the source for others. It was written by Saint Francis of Assisi and it goes like this;

Lord, make me an instrument of Your Peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon,
Where there is doubt, faith,
Where there is despair, hope,
Where there is darkness, light,
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so
much seek to be console as to console;
To be understood, as to understand,
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive-
It is in the pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are
born to eternal life.

You have talents, you have dreams, you have gifts, and they are merely reflections of your grandeur. Share them with the rest of the world. Be bold enough to declare to the world that you are a light, a divine expression of the Almighty. Remember, your dreams are my dreams as well as the dreams of the rest of us. Because when you dream, so do we. And when you make them true, it gives hope and encouragement to those who have forgotten who they are. God bless you!
