Some May Think They Want To Live,
When The Truth Is, They Don't

Health is the result of Mind, Body, and Spirit harmonizing with one another. Some people claim that health is very important to them and do what they think is appropriate to maintain an optimum level of health. They may go to a gym to stay fit just so that later on they can go to happy hour and have a few drinks. Some may eat healthy food while they live a stressful life. Some meditate and eat properly but they may not take the time to exercise. Some may be involved in charitable organizations and prayer while grabbing a smoke every now and then.

According to researchers, the body has been designwed to last far longer than we think. We have simply collectively agreed that the body can only last an average of 70 to 75 years. The issue is not how long the body is going to last but how efficient can it be during those years. We all know how painful it is when dealing with a physical imbalance. And even when some people want to do their best in order not to suffer an illness, they still treat their bodies in ways that reflect the opposite. They fill it with substances that were not meant to be consumed by the body, and that is only one third of the of the triangle. How about the kind of stuff they put in their minds as well as the way they nurture their soul. Let's look at the three aspects of our being separately and see how we can bring them together so that we can experience optimum health.

Body

We have been blessed with a wonderful mechanism that allows us to carry on the necessary tasks on a physical level. It operates very precisely and even when some may have what we perceive as handicaps, they can develop other skills that allows them to carry on whichever task they are supposed to. It is said that when a particular physical sense is lost, other senses develop beyond what we would call normal capacity just to overcompensate for the one lost. That does not demonstrate that in order to go beyond the so called normal sensory range we have to lose another sense, but simply shows us our infinite capacity that we have not even begun to explore.

This magnificent machine if you would like to call it so, as a thinking mechanism in itself, has the ability to heal and restore itself. Every time cells die, millions are born. Our body is always reconstructing itself. However, there are certain things that the body needs in order to function properly. It needs air, water and food which provides the nutrients necessary for a healthy functioning along with proper exercise. This is what it needs to sustain itself on a solely physical realm.

Mind

The mind is the connecting link through which thought is analyzed. Our brain receives the information which will be carried out by the body. The brain interprets and analyzes information based on memory which in many cases can be erroneous. A long forgotten fear can be recreated over and over again even when the circumstances that created it in the first place not longer exists. The greatest gift we have been given is the power to change our thoughts. Since our thoughts exert the greatest influence on our bodies, our own thinking can help us change our physiology. So even if we are eating properly, or exercising and so on, if our minds are filled with negative or stressful thinking, our body will reflect our state of mind usually manifesting a physical imbalance.

Spirit

For many years we were taught that we are a physical machine that runs by itself. We thought that spirit is something outside of us that either created us or that has power over us, so we are at the mercy of that which is outside of ourselves. Now we are realizing that that which we thought was outside of ourselves, is not only within us but it is us. The truth of our being is that we are spiritual beings experiencing an aspect of ourselves called the human realm. Our physical bodies are the vehicles that allows us to experience that very limited and constricted dimension of our self.

The Spirit seeks to know itself. It is always giving suggestions that the body receives as hunches, or intuitive signals. The Spirit is pure love, infinite freedom, everlasting joy, unrestricted by any physical limitations. But the mind, filled with information gathered through past experience and individual interpretation seeks to analyze everything, including those very same suggestions that the Spirit sends us. Most of the time those signals are discarded by the mind as mere imaginative thoughts.

So when the Spirit reminds you of who you are, the mind goes through the vast collection of data in stored to see if the information is accurate. If it can't find any reference or any verifiable data, the suggestion may be discarded as inaccurate. When a society, for example, agrees upon a particular event, condition or circumstance, when the Spirit suggests something that goes against the rules already established by that society, it is automatically discarded.

When Christ revealed the truth he was crucified. Yet, we crucify ourselves on a daily basis by listening to others idea about how the game is to be played. Some may say that if you stop drinking, smoking, eating junk food, you will take all the fun out of life. Yet I say, how fun it is to have headaches in the morning, felling tired all the time, taking pills and having operations and so on. The truth is, fun is to be interpreted in different ways. Fun to me for example is to go camping, to travel, spend time with friends, go water skiing, meditate, visit exotic places, scuba diving, and do what I love for a living - writing, just to name a few. If anyone considers that to be a boring life, well, what can I say.

Now I have given you a glimpse of the triangle. The Spirit suggests to the mind in the form of a desire. The mind decides whether to act upon the suggestion given by the Spirit. Finally, the body acts upon the suggestion chosen by the mind. When these three are acting in divine harmony, happiness, perfect health, peace and love are unavoidable.

Listen to your Soul's desires and act upon them. Because happiness leads to health, not the other way around.
