We've
heard all kinds
of sayings
regarding
actions and
consequences.
"What goes
around comes
around." "As
you sow, so
shall you
reap." In my
opinion, they
all make
perfect sense
since we are
dealing with
the laws of
cause and
effect. It
reinforces the
fact that we
are the
creators of our
destiny. On the
other hand, for
many karma
means that we
are suffering
or enjoying,
depending on
whether we are
dealing with
good karma or
bad karma, the
consequences of
our actions
from either
this or
previous
lifetimes.
Before going
any further, I
would like to
bring to your
attention the
following three
things. The
first one
being, every
time I use the
term "karmic
debt," I am
usually
referring to
negative karma.
Because it
implies that
some negative
action was
taken in the
past and before
people can
experience the
good they are
seeking to
manifest, that
karmic debt has
to be paid.
The way
people pay that
debt is usually
through some
kind of
sacrifice. For
example,
someone who has
challenges with
money, like not
being able to
manifest enough
in their life
is experiencing
money karma, or
financial
karma. That
being the case,
if that person
struggles long
enough before
his/her time is
up on earth, or
like some may
say, burn all
negative karma
by doing some
kind of prayer,
meditation,
chanting, etc.,
only then, the
experience of
financial
abundance will
be possible.
Second,
since I am
briefly going
to use the
concept of past
lifetimes in
order to better
elaborate on
this mysterious
thing called
karma, I want
you to know
that I do
believe in
reincarnation.
But you do not
have to believe
in
reincarnation
in order for
you to
understand, nor
to be able to
benefit from
the contents of
this book.
That being
said, I
wouldn't mind
suggesting
however, that
if you are very
skeptical about
the subject of
reincarnation,
read "Many
Lives, Many
Masters" by Dr.
Brian Weiss,
M.D. Dr. Weiss
is a
psychiatrist
who never
believed in any
kind of
esoteric,
spiritual or
metaphysical
experiences,
nor any kind of
past lives or
reincarnation
stories until a
very mysterious
encounter took
place with one
of his
patients. That
experience
changed his
whole life, and
is fully
documented in
his, not only
fascinating,
but also
inspiring book.
And third,
the reason why
I have chosen
reincarnation
and past life
experiences
when referring
to karma in
this book, is
because of the
fact that it is
so much easier
to understand
the concept of
actions and
consequences
when we
experience the
direct results
of our deeds.
For example, it
is easy to
experience the
consequences of
being punished
by the system
when someone
attempts to
steal. It is
easy to feel
good when we
help someone in
need. It is
easy to see the
results of our
work. But how
about when so
called
"negative
experiences"
seem to
manifest in
people's lives,
and they don't
understand why.
